Please refer to our "Background Checks & Fingerprinting" page.
Usually if you are getting a background check for licensing purposes, you would recieve documents from a state agency. Most will provide information on the background check process. What you would be looking for specifically is an O.R.C (Ohio Revised Code) or a "reason code". This is very helpful to know before going to get your background check and will make the process quick and easy. If you are unsure, or do not have any documents with this information, please call the agency requesting the background check or contact us. We may be able to assist.
In some cases, yes. For example; you need to complete a background check for a teaching license. You will need to complete a BFBI background check and have a direct copy send to the Ohio Department of Education. This state agency allows the system to send a copy to a secondary location. This could be sent to an employer if there is one at the time and if they need it, or it could be sent to you. Not all state agencies allow for two copies to be sent. You can ask one of our technicians when you come in to complete your background for your licensing purposes. You can also go to our "Forms" page and locate the "Request BCI Background Check" form.
For any background check to be conducted, you must bring a VALID government issued photo ID such as a drivers license, ID card, or Passport. You must also bring a form of payment. We accept cash, cards, and checks.
YES. You must bring a parent or someone who is at least 21 with you to complete the background check. If they are not present, we unfortunately cannot proceed with the background check until you bring them. The adult must also be able to provide a VALID government issued photo ID such as a Drivers License.
This form is used to request a copy of your background check if you have recently completed one. You can only request your BCI background check. You are not able to recieve a copy of the FBI background check, that would have to be completed again and sent to the desired address. In order to be eligible to submit the "Request Copy of BCI Background Check" form, you will need to have had an O.R.C. (Ohio Revised Code) on your last background check. For example; A teacher applying to obtain their license uses O.R.C. 3319.291 for BCI and FBI. A couple weeks later, they discover that the daycare their kids go to require a BCI and FBI background check per their regulations for parents. The daycare uses O.R.C. 5104.013 for BCI and FBI. The teacher can request their copy of the BCI background check by filling out that request form and entering the "Reason for fingerprinting on last background check" as 3319.291 and "Reason for fingerprinting on this background check" as 5104.013. They would then write in the daycare's address because they are the one needing the background check. They do not need to pay any fee to submit the form as long as it is submitted within 30 days of the last background check. If it is within the 30 days, then it needs to be faxed to the number provided on the request form. Rquests submitted after 30 days need to mail the form with a check for $8. Now that the teacher is able to request the copy of their BCI, they need to go to a WebCheck Agency (like High 5 Fingerprinting LLC) to submit a new FBI background check using the code that the daycare needs and mailed to where they say it needs to go.
If there was no O.R.C. (Ohio Revised Code) on the last background check and "Other" was used, you will not be able to request that BCI background check. A new one must be submitted.
